General
Part of a new generation of Katanas, the BOSS Katana 100 Gen 3 offers excellent sound and unprecedented sonic versatility. This compact 100-Watter not only features a custom 12-inch speaker, but upgraded Tube Logic technology for even richer sound and an improved playing feel and response, whether you opt for cleans or more spiced-up tone. With two voicings for all six amps plus five FX sections for a total of fifteen effects, there's more than enough seasoning available to cook up your new favourite sound.
The Katana 100 Gen 3: The Options
This BOSS-designed combo guarantees endlessly creative options during rehearsals, gigs and studio sessions, and kits you out with four Tone Settings so you can quickly recall your favourite settings at the push of a button. Meanwhile, the improved Tone Studio app offers a streamlined workflow when it comes to tweaking the amps and effects, providing access to over 60 high-quality effects and in-depth tweaking via various EQ settings, three selectable Cabinet Resonance settings, and more. For a convincing playing experience at any volume level, the Katana 100 Gen 3 has been equipped with a Power Control so you can cut the output in half, or even down to just 0.5W.
Additional Perks
Other practical perks include a Power Amp input for hooking up preamps, modellers and multi-effect units; a USB port for recording directly to a computer or mobile device, and the option to connect a Bluetooth Audio MIDI Dual Adapter for wireless backing track streaming and eased editing from the comfort of your phone. The Katana 100 Gen 3 can even be used in combination with a GA-FC or GA-FC EX foot controller.

Fijne versterker voor thuis. Uiteraard zou de 50w versie ook meer dan voldoende zijn maar die mist echter een fx-loop die ik graag gebruik voor een looper.
De katana is super veelzijdig en klinkt gewoon super goed. Zelf gebruik ik de software op de pc weinig, de knoppen op de versterker bieden al meer dan genoeg mogelijkheden.
Ten opzichte van mijn buizenversterker doet deze echt niet onder wat geluidskwaliteit betreft. Het pushed model klinkt echt super goed. Het voordeel van de katana is dat het volume veel zachter kan dan de buizenversterker.
Jammer dat er voor bluetooth een aparte adapter nodig is, maar dat is ook eigenlijk het enige dat mist aan deze versterker.
Gen 3 is blijkbaar een nieuwe versterker t.o.v de MK2's. Dit hoor je in het geluid. Deze klinkt echt als een tube amp. De bluetooth adapter kocht ik erbij en is zeer handig om draadloos de software te verbinden of draadloos backtracks of muziek af te spelen. De hoofdtelefoon is nu stereo. De nieuwe PUSH mode is zeer goed. Dit geeft een cracked clean geluid. De software is ook aangepast, je kan je effecten chain aanpassen door de effecten in de juiste volgorde te slepen. Ik ben zeer tevreden met de Gen3. Ik had ervoor een MK2 100, maar vind deze veel beter op gebied van sound en respons. Verder bezit hij ook alle vroegere features van de MK2 serie.

Very pleasing and practical amp for band work. Purchased as an alternative to a 15w valve amp and pedals (suits country, blues & Rock n roll), it delivers a different feel and suits different guitars. Marginally, I prefer it with my two humbucker ESP that has series/parallel switching (parallel sounding similar to single coils) when compared with my Fender Strat or Tele, mainly because the high gain sounds like the Brown amp really sing with a humbucker.
The new 'Pushed' amp choice in the Gen 3 amps is great for blues and soul in particular, creating a sound very responsive to your playing. I had my ESP pickups in parallel (single coil type sound) and loved it!
As well as having 8 patches saved in the amp itself (two banks of 4) if you have the GA-FC you can switch to 'Effects' mode and turn things on and off inside the patch, as well as trigger a programmable 'Solo' mode by holding the lit foot switch in patch mode all with your feet. Seriously practical.
